Ontluchtingsklep
De carter is het deel van de verbrandingsmotor waar de krukas in gelegen is en waarin deze ronddraait. Deze carterpan heeft als functie de olie te laten afkoelen. De pakking voor de caterpan dicht de carter zodanig af dat er geen lekkage kan plaatsvinden. Wanneer deze versleten of kapot is, zal de carter een lekkage krijgen.
De carter dient geventileerd te worden. Dit betekent ook wel dat de carterdampen afgezogen worden door de motor. Om de lucht goed te regulieren in de carter, is er een carter ontluchtingsklep aan toegevoegd. Deze zorgt ervoor dat de lucht op de juiste manier wordt afgevoerd.
