Kettingspanner
Een kettingspanner maakt onderdeel uit van het distributiesysteem. In het distributiesysteem bevindt zich ook de distributieketting. Een kettingspanner zorgt er in dit geval voor dat de distributieketting op de juiste spanning wordt gehouden. Hoe gaat een kettingspanner te werk? De kettingspanner legt via het wiel druk op de ketting. Dat proces wordt mogelijk gemaakt door de oliedruk. Die oliedruk zorgt weer voor een druk op het wiel. Wanneer de kettingspanner zijn functie niet meer goed uitoefent, oftewel kapot is, is dit af te leiden aan een rammelend geluid bij de motor. De kettingspanner is gemaakt van metaal, in dit metalen omhulsel bevindt zich een zuiger.
